World Environment Day

World Environment Day is the United Nations’ day to raise worldwide awareness and inspire action for the environment. Being held on 5 June 2014, the theme is ‘Small Island Developing States’ which relates to protecting small islands from the effects of climate change. Individuals and workplaces are being encouraged to host an activity for the day, including clean-up campaigns, walk-to-work days, tree-planting drives, switching off the lights, and other activities to raise awareness.
