NDIS National Quality and Safeguards Framework ‰ÛÒ have your say

Public consultation is open on the government’s development of a national approach to quality and safeguarding for the NDIS.

People with disability, families, carers, other citizens, providers, peak organisations and government are encouraged to provide feedback. Disability SA is keen to ensure that interested South Australians can engage in and contribute to the discussion about the proposed quality and safeguard measures.

Although the public meetings have now occurred in South Australia you can still get involved in the consultation in many ways, including:
• reading the consultation paper (please note a series of fact sheets and an Easy English version of the consultation paper are also available to download)
• talking about the proposed framework with your family, friends, groups or networks
• encourage others to get involved and have their say
• host your own group discussion to gather everyone’s ideas
• make a submission (this can be done online, by email or post)
• join the discussion
• complete a questionnaire
• view the current submissions.
The consultation process focusses on eight specific topic areas:
• NDIS quality and safeguarding
• Building participants’ capacity
• Monitoring and oversight
• NDIA provider registration
• Systems for handling complaints
• Ensuring staff are safe to work with participants
• Safeguards for participants who manage their own plans
• Reducing and eliminating restrictive practices in NDIS funded supports.
If you, or someone you know needs help to access the internet to contribute, you can call the Disability SA Customer Information Line on 1300 786 117 for assistance.

Questions about the consultation process can be directed to NDISqualitysafeguards@dss.gov.au

The closing date for submissions and other contributions is 30 April 2015.
