Event: AYAC 2013 – the National Youth Affairs Conference, Adelaide, 5,6 & 7 August

This national conference will bring together 400 youth sector representatives, community-minded young people & young changemakers, youth policy makers, and youth researchers & academics to Adelaide, SA. The focus of the event is on building ideas, knowledge and skills to support young people, the youth sector and policy at a national level – across the core themes of Youth Participation, Advocacy for Change, Supporting the Sector and Driving Research for Better Practice.

International and Australian speakers attending, including Sam McLean (National Director of GetUp!); Sara Saleh (Amnesty International Australia, 2012 Chair of the Australian Youth Forum Steering Committee); John Laughton (of UK fame, Dare2Lead and more); Meredith Turnbull (former executive of AYAC, GetUp! TwentyTen, and consultant with Adaptive Projects), David Baker (The Australia Institute); Viv Benjamin (CEO, Oaktree Foundation) with more to come shortly (including some Q&A with key Ministers!)

The program structure has something for everyone attending, from young people who are interested and active on the most pressing social issues facing young Australians, through to youth service workers and managers and those of you interested in getting young people involved in every part of Australian life.
